Kennedy's Inaugural Address
Kennedy's Inaugural Address

1961

  • The inauguration of former president John F. Kennedy is often seen as bringing in a new era, following the periods of both world wars and a new perceived threat of communism spreading throughout Asia. Kennedy’s speech is also seen as a rallying cry and the building blocks for an entire generation. The most famous line “Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country” along with the words “the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans” served to invigorate the youth of America, uniting them seemingly under a singular cause to support their country.
